Thank you, Tanya, for sharing this heartfelt prayer. You've captured and expressed poignantly the incredulity, disillusionment and despair of many global citizens, including this Canadian neighbour. The results of this US election have settled upon me, too, like a heavy cloak. With your words, you encourage us to keep working for goodness and truth, to not give up, to keep trying. We must not let the fear of worst case scenarios render us inert. In solidarity, Lucie
Amen, Tanya. Sending love from Kathmandu, where I'm out of the slipstream of the media onslaught and surrounded by reminders of equanimity -- even if what's really called for in this moment is action, even a kind of Kali-like rage. We'll prayed so hard for a different outcome; now we need to pray for guidance on our next steps. They may not be the kinds of steps we've ever taken before. And we may be called upon to show the kind of courage we've read about in history books, and seen dramatized in films about passionate resistance. I hope I'm being overly dramatic, but suspect that I'm not. My current mantra: We're all in this together. Love you Tanya. And I love all the other comments and replies.
Thanks so much (belatedly) for this comment, Jeffji. I agree. We must be ready for whatever is called for. And we must act from love. Love to you in Kathmandu.
Dear Tanya, although I live on the opposite hemisphere and across an ocean from you in South Africa, I grieve with all of you in America. I grieve for my brothers and sisters in Christ who prayed as you did, as I did. We prayed for our incomprehension of the picture presented of a God we know to be loving and compassionate, and full of mercy, being depicted as relentlessly authoritarian and judgmental with a bias that is not reflected in the teachings of Jesus. How then, did this happen? There are no answers. For me, my rugged faith will prevail, though I will struggle to accept what has happened. I can only continue to pray for His people, that we find our way through the bleakness of this time, echoing your cry: please, please, please, please,
Thanks so much, Brad. The pictures I used with this post were taken in Hawaii at various times. The sunset pics were taken this summer from Mauna Kea on the Big Island. The other one with the labyrinth was taken on Maui some years ago. I always just look through all my photos to try and find the right ones to evoke the feeling of a given post.
I heard myself talking to or at ? while I was driving this afternoon. Looking forward to Saturday. This introvert is looking to be connected to good souls.

This non-theist's been "let go and let Godzilla" all year. I get it. Hang in there!
Haha, I hear you on that one! Take good care.
PS -- Where did you take those lovely pictures? And when? Since the election?
